Subjects
Countries you hold as subjects: tribute, land, levies, integration and independence.A subject keeps its own government but follows you. It always fights on your side in your wars and never against you: one caught on the other side of its overlord's war switches over or leaves. It pays you tribute every week. Countries become subjects through a peace deal or a surrender, or by being released as one.
Where to find the actions
Every subject action is in Nation → Statecraft → Your subjects. The same actions are also on the subject's own country card: click the country on the map.
What you can do
- Tribute. Light (5%) earns goodwill every week. Normal (10%) is the usual share. Heavy (20%) sours relations every week, and a subject that comes to hate you may rise while you are at peace.
- Land. Give them provinces, or take provinces back, by picking them on the map. Taking land costs 3★ and 3 relations per province; giving land earns goodwill.
- Levy. Call up 40% of their home army to join yours, at most every 26 weeks.
- Integrate. Annex all their land and armies once they have been your subject long enough, relations are good and you have the influence. You take over any war they are in.
- Grant independence. Set them free.
