Getting started

Pick a map and a country, then play week by week.

Map & Might is a turn-based grand strategy game of the world as it stands in October 2026. You lead one country – or watch as an observer – and every turn is one week. From the main menu choose New game, pick a map (the whole world or a region) and click a country on the map or in the list.

Your first weeks

  1. Look around. Click land to inspect a province or its country. The map modes (keys 1–7) show politics, terrain, development, diplomacy, the military situation and blocs.
  2. Set your budget. In Economy choose a tax level and military spending. Higher taxes cost stability.
  3. Make friends. Spend influence in Diplomacy to improve relations, sign treaties, or apply to a bloc.
  4. End the turn. Movement, battles, AI decisions and income happen when the week ends; a summary shows what changed.

Time

  • Space ends the week. Hold it down and the weeks keep coming until you let go, without the weekly report in between.
  • Space only ever ends the turn: it never presses a button or accepts an offer that happens to be under the cursor.
  • The play button next to End turn lets time run by itself at one of three speeds. It pauses on its own when a war, a surrender or an event needs you.

What happens immediately

Recruiting, building, diplomacy and declarations of war take effect at once. Everything that moves – armies, fronts, sieges, the economy and world events – resolves at the end of the turn.

Tip. The step-by-step guide in the game (Guide → Restart the guide) walks you through a first war.
